Moms sing a homeschool version of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

On 15 December 2011, I (the videographer) received the following e-mail:

This song was originally published in Practical Homeschooling magazine #10. The 1st 12 verses had been posted anonymously on the then-existing PHS forum on AOL. I then added the last verse, which originally said 'They are missing nothing . . . I'll homeschool forever' and 'We go to the 'Y'' (all were changed slightly in the video version). Practical Homeschooling has now published its 101st issue, and here is our website: http://www.practicalhomeschooling.com

  • On the 1st of homeschool my neighbor said to me... 13-I thoughtfully replied... colleges love homeschoolers, we have high school transcipts, prom's just another party, you could do if you want to, I'll homeschool forever, God wants me to do this, this is what they're missing, we are not strange, we don't do P.E., we give them tests, they are super kids and we homeschool legally
  • @DigitalMichelle Thanks for the summary ... the only thing you got wrong was about P.E. What they actually sang was: "We go to P.E."

  • This made me laugh! And brought tears to my eyes when they said why they did it and the gal held up the Bible. Love it!

  • I've been a public school teacher for about a million years.. and nowadays I can think of WAY more reasons to homeschool than to send them out to the neighborhood data-generation center! Do you give them tests-- yep. Required. Do I give them tests -- heck, that's all the district seems to care about. Not 'learning'... but 'test scores'. TWo different things... BRAVO to *good* home school families!

  • I was homeschooled, I had PE, prom, field trips, graduation, and yes I even had a social life! Now that I'm in college, I am glad that my parents chose to homeschool me!

  • Love, love, LOVE this beyond belief!!! :)

  • love it

  • Im on my way to homeschool my 7 year-old daughter, this makes me laugh and see positively the future questions my family , neighbors and friends are going to ask me about doing this...Im completely relax now...tks!

  • @mmartin088 Jonah was required to take one path, while Joseph was given another. Samson was instructed to never cut his hair, but that was not mentioned of others during his life. God understanding individualism.

  • @mmartin088 I must respectfully disagree with your frustrations. Maybe my view of that very thought will bring you peace. I too, feel that God directed me to homeschool 3 of my children, but not all of them. I wrestled with the concept of homeschooling. I did not want to do it. But, the more I resisted, the worse our situation became. I don't think God has the same plan for all people, and He does not require the same paths be traveled. .... I will reply with the remaining, out of space.

  • I got asked these questions all the time when I was homeschooled!

  • I love this and it's true that is what people ask homeschoolers

  • @mmartin088 Honestly, their comments are not about you -- just about themselves and God. They are not insinuating anything about others. Please don't take it personally.

  • oh yes we do! <3 home education is what "life" is about -- learning, growing, moving forward, being self-governed, respecting authority,.... it is largely about relationships with Jesus, and humankind. What a challenging, satisfying, full range, rewarding life it is!
