wow that middle pass was awesome!

Man, look how high she sets before flipping on the first pass. Insane. SO much height on that double pike. Oh, Mary Lou..
-
She was so young! : ) She was my hero in '84.
-
well i think the first run was supposed to be a double layout but she probably didnt feel it was right in the take off so she had to pike down (or at least thought she should) cause it was high enough and powerful enough but hell only she knows what she was thinking....great routine though
-
shes not a good dancer but an AMAZING tumbler and gymnast, otherwise.
THEYRE RIGHT, shawn is just like her ;p
-
It's a layout/pike. She had been competing that for a couple of years while training the double layout.
-
actually she laid out the first sumi then piked down the other one, so it was 1/2 and 1/2 LOL.
-
No the first tumbling run wasn't a layout...it was a double back pike....it's not the angle.....i had to replay it too....
-
it has a double pike
Oh my god...I never saw her when I was little, but that absolutely made my jaw drop! Incredible!

I think in those days a double layout and a layout-in pike-out (which is what she does here) were worth the same in the Code of Points, and a lot of people referred to both as a double layout.
The layout-in is different from and more difficult than a regular double pike, but not as difficult as a double layout. If I remember correctly, skills were only rated A, B, and C at the time, and there was no more room at the top for more difficult elements (they added Ds after 1984).
