This is a wonderful exercise for any dog to learn! It is also a great exercise to perfect your own training skills.

the cue "touch" is useful if you want to teach your dog behaviors using "luring", it is also a wonderful way to call your dog, build your dogs attention and teach amazing and complex tricks.

You can teach your dog to 'heel' using touch, you can also teach your dog to deliver mail to your family members! The possibilities are endless when you teach your dog this skill.

  • what kind of treats do you use when training? i usually use canine carry outs, but there are reviews about them not being good for dogs :T

  • Thanks so much for this video. I taught my first dog touch in a different way and it led to him pushing doors shut, but I have a new higher energy pup and this is great. I love the idea of having them follow your hand.

  • what a great video indeed. makes perfect sense

  • This is my favourite trick!

  • Good video!! Hopefully this will help for agility!!

  • My dog gets frustrated after I ask him to touch my hand for more than 3 times. On the 4th time I ask him to touch my hand, he bites the air beside him and makes a small grunting noise before touching my hand. What am I doing wrong? Are my treats not reinforcing enough, or what?

  • what breed of dog is rilo?he's gorgeous!

  • Oh, btw you can go to Billy's (my mini) Facebook and ask to get invited. There he shows all his treadmill and stuff...just in case you wanna find out about him.

  • OH MY GAWD!!! This is Brilliant! Correct me if I'm wrong but, this drill will actually tackle several things at once. 1. Getting attention; 2. Getting them to move, spin, stand, jump, dance; 3. Getting them to follow. Fantastic. Question: how long did it take you to get your Collie to move so smoothly with your fingers...a week, a month? Did you have the same success with your small dogs?

  • Subbed, nice guide and tips.

  • That can be transfered to anything - I did it to a ball to start my deaf dog to retrieve even though he had not instinct for it.
