To certain people (we'll call them women), going to Paris in the fall means shopping on the Champs-Élysées, nibbling on pastries at sidewalk cafes and taking in the sights of one of the world's most beautiful cities.

That's all fine and good, but when we head to the City of Lights this October it will be for one thing and one thing only: the 2008 Paris Auto Show. With no competition from Frankfurt or Tokyo, the Paris auto show is the only game in town this fall, so there are guaranteed to be several world premieres at the Porte de Versailles convention center.

It should be a mix of everything from small and efficient to expensive and powerful. GM has already promised a firsthand look at the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, a small sedan that will go on sale in Europe next year. Not to be outdone in the efficiency game, Honda will unveil an all-new hybrid sedan aimed directly at the Toyota Prius. With a base price under $20,000, it's designed to bring hybrid technology to the masses.

On the more expensive side, we'll see the Ferrari California and the 2009 BMW 7 Series. The BMW will be joined by an ActiveHybird version of this car as well as the 3 Series refresh and a concept version of the X1 compact SUV. There will be additional news from Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Nissan. Coverage starts on October 2, so check back then for all the latest from Europe's only major auto show this fall.

  • After they're sold, there will only be 600 people left on earth.

    Hurry while supplies last !

  • @RaziAlaster

2 years later, I can see that it definitely was NOT a failure!

  • @bg1379 And by not disagreeing I mean I'm not a fan of the Cayenne, but it's not been a failure. However...

Seeing as how your posted this TWO YEARS ago... I think I'm more of a failure than the Cayenne. lol

  • @bg1379 First, I'm by no means disagreeing with you. But actually the Cayenne has proven be to be a good decision and not a failure for Porsche, economically speaking, as it has been their highest selling model for a few years and counting.

    2009/10 Figures:

    Cayenne - 29,855 units

    Panarama - 20,615 units

    911 - 19,663 units

  • Ferenidad Porsche said he does not make a good looking cars but rather a world class preformance. Indeed, i own a big collection of many top gears cars, Porsche stand alone when it comes to preformance, before any one make a statement about porsche please test drive it or ask a professional driver first. I am so addicted Porschster, saftey, proformance and comfort and guess what, I have 12 Porsche parked in my garage. looks is the last thing i think about.

  • come on its good for a SUV

  • What an ugly SUV, porsche should sick to making cars.

  • Say what you want, Haters! Porsche is evolving, unlike Ferrari or Lambo. Nowadays, you have to come up with new ideas, think outside the box. Did you hear what he said, "won the transsyberia race 3 times in a row" That says something about this vehicles capabilities. I think it's great... I wouldn't buy one cause it's not my cup of tea, but Porsche's reputation as a high value automobile maker is in no danger at all.. Now take the Panamera... junk that sucker, but that's just one.
