This is a 2nd dress pass welding sequence of a custom titanium bicycle frame. The area being welded is the headtube/downtube/toptube junction. Tubes are Grade 9 aerospace titanium and filler wire is Grade 5, flag-tagged wire. The frame is a custom 29er mtb.

Hi, thanks for the video, Ive never welded Titanium and I have a few questions if thats ok. What amps are you using? Do you back purge the headtube as well? What sort of gas flow do you have for the torch/backpurge? Thanks.

It doesn't look like there is much slag created when welding Ti. Does the surrounding surface get hot? I noticed your hand was in close contact to the welded spot.

What welding system did u use ?

@idutcher , It is TIG welding with a custom torch I've developed for welding titanium. Standard titanium welding procedure with a pulsed arc. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Ciao!

@idutcher Hi, I'm using a Cebora TIG Sound machine. You can google the name (I can't post website here) . It's an AC/DC machine. I treat my tools with care and it has never given me any problems with daily use since 2003. I have not found a machine with better price/quality.
