XMRV discovery and linkage to prostate cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome. In 2006 Robert Silverman PhD and Eric Klein MD discovered the retrovirus XMRV. XMRV was discovered at the Cleveland Clinic, now one of only three known human retroviruses. XMRV showed a genetic link between prostate cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome.

  • Dear Aparajita1008 - I've experimented with Ayurvedic medicine & tried killing funji & viruses in my body, which has helped a lot but not cured. There is always a battle going on between the human immune system & micro-organisms, our immune system is adaptable & can change. A retrovirus I believe came from polio Salk polio vaccine in 1954, as such it's in our DNA always. Micro-organisms are synergetic & like to invite their friends into your body, when you realize this you make progress.

  • 2012 What Now? Why is nothing being done to follow up on diagnosis and treatment of XMRV in ME/CFS?

  • i refuse to give up hope! (me for 15 yrs)

  • XMRV virus culture test is available at REDLABS in Europe as of 8th July 2010.

  • Thank you so much for your work on this. As someone with CFS for 10+ years, I am grateful for your hard work.

  • @MissSandraHeatherly

Most doctors in holland (also my country) suck. Since my sister has the same thing, I just did not tell him about it. He's not going to take it serious...and I know all the shit my sister has had to gone through with regular doctors. Downright insulting to say she's 'gek' (crazy) for being so tired. I felt like shooting that guy. Anyway, I'm going to Prof. kenny de Meirleir now. I hope htey found some good stuff about Me in relation to XMRV...

  • Thank you so much. i can only pray that here in Holland they doctors finally open their eyes

  • the picture at 1:31 what is that called? i want to find out because i think their is a new retrovirus that i will want to test for.

  • Excellent! Silverman and Klein definitely deserve this award. Thanks to both for asking that "very simple question" that got the ball rolling, and following it through to connect XMRV to CFS.

  • Thank you Drs Silverman and Klein. And Mikovits et al at WPI
