The story of three different girls pulled in to war for three different reasons.
Jess (ranger) longs to follow in her mothers footstep and become a great ranger to protect her home land. Her father who lost his wife to war forbids her to go but against her fathers wishes she follows her dream and leaves her father and her little friend Gwen behind. Many years later and plagued with guilt at the lose of her father and Gwen she tries to rebuild her life but makes a great discovery.
Singollo (dervish) is happy married to a duke but at a party in her town her husband grows jealous of her best friend and accuses her of adultery and takes her away from her daughter. Sentenced to death the god Grenth provides her with a weapon for her to make her escape, avenging her self she leaves her life behind and makes a deal that she will serve Grenth for 15 years before she can return to her now married and pregnant daughter.
Gwen, surviving the char attack and becoming a prisoner finds a way to escape and turns in to a great warrior but now fuelled with anger and hatred can she remember her passed life and her dear friend that she longed to be like ?
