GUINEVERE
For Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Temperley reaches back to the era of courtly love and the legend of
King Arthur resulting in an enticingly modern collection combining dreamy romanticism with a glint of
steel. Seizing on both the idea and aesthetics of armor and the diaphanous silhouettes and romantic spirit
of medieval dress, Temperley has invented a new Guinevere, a beautiful and alluring queen.
The hooded tunic in gold chain mail knit, a waistcoat hand-crocheted with metal beads, a new Temperley
jersey, ribbed and foil-printed and found in draped, floor-skimming gowns are highlights, weaving a hint of
armor through the collection while giving it a feminine edge. Wildcat-inspired prints and intarsia knits,
saddle-stitched nappa leather leggings and accessories decorated with plaits and chains reinforce the
theme.
As well as the slightly tougher, armor inspired aspects, this season contains some beautifully soft
inspirations seen in an ethereal, intricately embroidered tulle, lace and ribbon cut into delicate panels to
sculpt the body and fluid "goddess" draping. A color palette of white and blush evokes a dreamy
romanticism while bright grenadine gives a modern injection of color.
Spring/Summer 2011's fusion of tough and tender is no where better exemplified than in the stunning
Black Label collection of dresses. Elaborate edged ruffles are modernized with power mesh, boned
corsets and sit alongside intricate hand embellishments in an array of supremely feminine silhouettes.
Both refined and seductive, Spring/Summer 2011 combines old and new, weaving ancient inspirations of
romance and myth into a modern, sleek collection, focusing on the Temperley strengths of creating
ultimately feminine, aspirational pieces that can translate from red carpet to everyday wear.
