Alex Permanyer - playing the HANG in a street in Bruges, Belgium

When I was in Bruges gigging in mid October 2009, I was doing touristy things in my time off, and heard the wonderful ethereal slightly fragile sound of the HANG being played by Alex whilst I was walking in a side street off the main square.
The Hang is a Swiss invention, it's a bit like an inverted steel drum but has a tabla-esque sound to it too.
Tuned to a D minor partial scale, it is made from metal and produces wonderful overtones .
Alex is Spanish, and a double bass player, who because of the busking limitations of his "first" instrument, taught himself to play the hang - great bloke too :)

Thanks for the upload. We saw Alex playing in Bruges when we were there in October 2009. Never saw or heard the Hang before then and as a musician myself it opened up a whole new world of possibilities :)

héhé, i was very surprised to see and meet a fellow hanglayer busking in my town. I do it for almost 2 years now and now there is another hangplayer in town :-)
