@twise95 man i dont care what anyone says its a great record, every song.

A lot of people blam Check My Brain for how poppy it is... but honestly it has the mold of an Alice in Chains song like any other... great drumming, mini solo, not-so-usual main riff, great bridges, etc. Just because its built on power chords doesn't mean it can't be good. Look at half the crap written in the 80s. And by crap, I mean MOST f*cking awesome metal. Lyrically it may kinda have less uumph then most AiC songs but its still a classic in my mind. Really fun to play on guitar too!

Jerry looks like Rob Zombie in this.

Check my brain is really good and it is growing on me but Your Decision hit me like a ton of bricks man, just hit me deep fucking love that song.
-
@nutshellinchains Damn...It's my least favorite too. It's in the running for the catchiest though. Not that that's good. It could be worse though...

@teemunknee Jerry did write Check My Brain. He said he actually likes the song and that he related to it b/c he moved to CA. He thinks it's a good song. It's my least fave, I have to say.

is dave grohl switching the mixer at the beginning?

Yeah, "Check My Brain" is really the only song that sounded commercially made though. There are some parts here and there with other songs but for the most part, it really does sound like Cantrell and AIC...
I kinda hope that Cantrell really didn't write Check My Brain, it's lyrically the worst song on the album...Although I've heard Duvall actually did a decent amount of co-writing as well as the main writing to a few songs. I'm not sure which songs exactly though

I love alice in chains too, and i think the new album kicks ass in many ways, they really rule. But the song "check my brain", which is the single, does sound like corporate songwritting somehow, it doesn't kill the album though

The CD was leaked Sept. 18th, and I have 2 say I am 1 that just HAD 2 hear it sooner than later, I need my Alice, what can I say....Anyways, the song that Dave was sampling @ the beginning of the vid. is called "Lesson Learned"...my personal favs. r "Private Hell", "Acid Bubble" "When The Sun Rose Again" and the very soul touching "Black Gives Way To Blue" for beloved Layne. The CD is fucking amazing, all doubters will be quite humble after hearing it, DuVall fuckin nails it.
