Hilarious. How did people fall for this? The editors were white people that have never had contact with someone that actually grew in the circumstances that she fictionalized. I'm listening to this as I write. "It's like being a Palestinian suicide bomber.", "I'm from South Central, not America. Like this isn't America." I remember when her book first came out and I read the synopsis. When I read the part where she said she was a half Native kid placed with a black family, I thought that was odd seeing as we do have ICWA which places Native kids with relatives or other Natives over anyone else, so I felt that was a stretch and then lo and behold look what we find out...
