Keating's negative gearing & Howard's halved capital gains tax have caused house prices to rise so much, the effects of low interest rates pale into insignificance. Howard is the most disingenuous prime minister Australia has ever had. Accepting in 2009 an honorary Bond University doctorate, Howard said governments play a supporting role, and that wealth creation is fundamentally in the hands of the individual. So why did you, honourable Dr Howard, halve capital gains tax in 2001?
