Hi Aidan. Someone uploaded a public information film called where Madeline Bell sings read the road. It was from a BBC1 closedown from 1989, do you happen to have it?

@Huddersfield1985 Nothing I have sounds even remotely like that, so no, I don't have it. I can honestly say I have never heard, and don't have, a public information film where some woman sings "read the road" or any such variations.

I think the film that had just finished was Gambit, as it was before Funeral in Berlin

I have a slight feeling that this announcer could be Mark Devlin. I'm not 100 percent sure
