One only needs to read a few short novels by the likes of Joseph Conrad or R.H. Dana Jr, or even more recent travel memoirs from the 1950's such as Graham Greene's "Ways of Escape" to realize that travel has become genericized and ... boring. My own personal world travel dream involves a Honda cub, so perhaps I'm no jet-setter. I've done Europe via 747, and it was DULL compared to a van across Canada with my young daughter. Real, rather than surreal, that's the key. And, there's the ENVIRONMENT!
