We showcase, celebrate, and discuss poetry through film.

Jill Scott and Rapper Common were two of the many poets invited to an evening of poetry at the white house.

  • I love how so many people missed the whole point Jill was making. Some of you people always want to pull the racist card. Yes racism is still alive & roaming the streets. Get off your high horse.

  • I love you jill!...your new cd is amazing...keep up the great work. We need more people like you.

  • whoaaaaaa. Jill is the deepest!

  • Son She A G For That Second Poem. * Snaps *

  • This was everything. Thanks for the post.

  • I hate coming to videos like this and seeing nothing but comments about being black/white. It is literature and poetry is a place for self expression not politics and race cards. We see she's black. Great. Listen to what she's saying.

  • I love how people foolishly through the word racist around. Racism is the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races.

  • here is the flaw in the 'racist' argument. you say (@ScientologyStoners) "If a white person said anything remotely like what Jill Scott in the reverse said then they would automatically be labeled a racist."

and here is your answer: they did. for many years. they justified slavery with scripture. try to justify segregation because of history. they still do today.

so your argument is rooted in a red herring but you didn't expect folks to be paying attention. hurts doesn't it.

  • @ScientologyStoners Why so many problematic Black Women, what makes you so astute. Society has produced their own problems against a certain sex from a specific race. I live in Germany, and I'am Black..I dated once a Japan young lady. She said to me,she didn't know why the German men didn't find her attractive. She said in her hometown of Japan, the men would drop to their knees for her.I told her maybe they are not open to Asian women like that.I told her they are blind because you are Beautiful.
