THIS "BEYOND THE MOONWALK" PRODUCTION WAS NOMINATED FOR BEST PILOT AT THE BANFF WORLD TELEVISION FESTIVAL.

"Beyond the Moonwalk" tells the greatest story never told in R&B and Soul music history. We'll journey across four decades with the amazing street dancers whose original moves completely transformed pop culture.

What follows is an extended trailer and a two minute and forty second condensed segment that begins at 5:52 (Click here to jump to it) for the six part documentary series that relates true events which took place between 1981 and 1983... Events that led to the world's discovery of the most popular dance move of the last thirty years - "The Backslide" aka "The Moonwalk".

Beyond the Moonwalk is a Vision4Media production. EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS - Keith G. Myers and David C. Bojorquez PRODUCERS - Geron "Caszper" Canidate and Paula Moreno PRODUCTION CONSULTANT - ASSOCIATE PRODUCER: Sheryl Dolley WRITER - David C. Bojorquez EDITOR AND DIRECTOR - David C. Bojorquez

NOTE: Beyond The Moonwalk falls under the Fair Use Doctrine and should be allowed to remain in public view. One prong of the Fair Use analysis reviews the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole. BTM is its own creation that uses small segments of the music clips and video content to build the story. The music and video used in the Beyond the Moonwalk story are established to support the story.

The other applicable prong of the test is the net effect of use upon the potential market for or value of the original copyrighted work. The market for the music and video content is currently in a growth cycle, stimulated recently by events that created a renewed interest. The creation of the Beyond the Moonwalk story will further that new interest in the genre and potentially support additional interest, thereby increasing the value of the market. The use will essentially create free publicity for the content and continue supporting a growth in its market value.

BTM also creates a transformative use with the inclusion of the music and video content. Beyond the Moonwalk - for the first time - tells the greatest story in pop culture history never told through a uniquely blended visual and audio narrative that integrates excerpts of new and old media (both musical and visual) into a cinematic gestalt. It is a living documentary time capsule using existing and new material intended to deliver a one-of-a-kind vicarious journey through forty years of pop culture - in order to demonstrate the influence that the featured dancers played in the expressions of soul, pop and hip hop artists.

  • As someone who personally knows the parties involved... The Truth is that Geron or Caszper, Jeffery Daniel, and former Solid Gold dancer Cooley Jackson all taught Michael the moonwalk..I grew up with Cooley and Caszper and watched the whole thing unfold. When Casper says "Michael just loved US (The street guys)" He's talking about all three of them People usually give all the credit to Jeffery cause he's was well know. They all equally deserve credit..

  • @experiencemyke Thank you for your comment. You are correct... I don't dispute for a moment that Michael worked with all those dancers. They all deserve their due credit... However, there is no doubt that Caszper was the FIRST to introduce MJ to the Backslide aka Moonwalk. Both eyewitness collaboration, and documentation from that era, including cancelled checks and invoices from Caszper's manager for that training attest to this fact.

  • the question Oprah asked Michael was "where did the moonwalk come from?" NOT who taught you? he employed all these guys and gave credit when credit was due. he also said in that same interview that "they are the real dancers". michael is still a beast on the dance floor, dont get it twisted

  • @deyonce Great... I'd love to incorporate that footage in our doc.... It only goes to substantiate our premise... No one's getting anything twisted. And no one is taking cred away from MJ. What one has to ask, is how many people know how influential these street dancer's were in the development of pop culture? In most cases, it's only the dancers themselves who know. They were there. They saw what happened... Watch the doc, In the Shadows of Motown... there are a lot of parallels.

  • I am confused.... what about the video with jeffrey daniel? i think nobody will ever proove who taught him that!

  • @blinddancer Geron Caszper Canidate was in fact the first dancer to teach Michael the Backslide or Moonwalk. Caszper's instructing Michael on the Moonwalk for the first time is not only corroborated by his peers, but also supported by documentation including the canceled check for his instruction, the original invoice from Caszper's management agency, and industry publications from that era.

  • There are many many black and white stuff with the origins of the moonwalk---way before those guys....Michael took it on another level, that's all.

  • I like the history in this clip; most of which I've already read. But is this doc trying to claim that MJ somehow was wrong in performing the move and not mentioning them? Fact#1: The "Backslide/Moonwalk" as this video shows, was around amongst black dancers way before the people speaking in the video. Fact#2 - MJ paid these dancers---cash. Fact#3 - MJ always said that young black kids from the ghetto taught him the move. Was he lying? These dancers should be proud, not bitter. That's showbiz!

  • what song is that at 3:05??

  • @ConsciousFilmmaker You are correct that Casper was 1st, and I agree they all deserve their just due...

  • What a lot dancers fail to realize is that the dance called Struttin'( the precursor to Poppin') was being done in the bay around the same time as Lockin'. For some reason there is always a heavy emphasis on LA dance history but the dance structure was being created right here in Northern California mid sixties to mid seventies. I can't blame anybody though because the Strutters who did the dance, to this day choose to withhold information.

  • @luisoncaffeine yeah that true MJ aint first moonwalk daniel was first one taught MJ that when MJ saw song a night to remeber

  • @deyonce Right one Michael did it better then any pop locker!!! Michael took this and he own IT!!!!

  • jeffrey daniels taught michael how to moonwalk

  • couldn't have been before Michael Jackson cos he was a professional from 1969

  • very cool
