Dauer 962 GT/Le Mans demonstration - 1994 - Norisring

The Porsche AG had a quite nice suprise at the Norisring race in 1994 as they presented the two Dauer 962 Le Mans to the Norisring crowd.
A week earlier these two cars finished the Le Mans 24h race in #1 and #3.

Actually the Dauer 962 GT road cars were developed and produced in Nuremberg, so the Porsche AG simply brought these cars to their "home racetrack".

Although it was only a demonstration and the cars weren't running that fast, it definately brought back a little flair of the Group C cars which ran at Norisring from 1982 to 1989. Enjoy the noise! :]

Muss schon unglaublich genial gewesen sein als die Gruppe C damals in den 80ern WM Läufe auf dem Norisring gefahren ist. Schade das ich das nicht erleben durfte und Privatvideos von diesen beiden WM Läufen findet man auch keine :-(

Mit Privatvideos kann ich leider auch nicht dienen. Als Augenzeuge kann ich Dir versichern,es war wirklich der Hammer als diese Flundern von 1982-89 im Formationsflug jenseits der 300km/h angeschossen kamen. 84/85: Nannini im Werks-Lancia,Bellof im Jägermeister 956 & M. Winkelhock im Liqui-Moly 962. Ich war damals zwar erst 6 bzw 7 Jahre alt, vergessen hab ich das nicht. Anfang 90er tobte Wendliger nochmal im Sauber C11 showmäßig um den Kurs; einige Fans hatten da Freudentränen in den Augen

Dauer Porsche 962 have power enough, very good aerodynamic and,with proper gearbox and in a circuit with right road long enough isn't impossible to do it. Many years ago Lemans hadn't Mulsanne Straight with more than five kilometers without chicanes, where the most powerful cars,as Peugeot prototypes, did get speeds as 405 km/h ? So why the Dauer Porsche wouldn't capable to make the same ?

Companies all seem to be shooting for high top speed these days and some have exceeded what 962s were setup to reach at Le Mans........but Veyrons, etc, are not real race cars like the Dauer. No comparison at all. Even the lightest comparable street car is 500-700 lbs heavier and the Veyron is about 2200 POUNDS heavier!! And the 962 has the very rare capability of being able to run around tracks like Le Mans for 24 hours, hitting 240-250 mph lap after lap. Try that in a street car lol..
