Why is there a size limit to what you can scan? I am interested in this, but would like to scan larger things.

Size limit is in the number of points/triangles, not the size of the object, and that's only because of the memory it takes on the device. The devices only have a limited amount of memory. (Should be more than enough for the majority of scans...)

Planned release is on the 18th, right after the Expand event, and simultanious with the launch of the kickstarter project. I'll be emailing everyone that registers at moedls(dot)com when this happens.

Would you mind showing me which 'solutions of 3D-scanners and programs out there for less or sometimes even free' you're talking about? The david laser scanner is the cheapest I could find (free!) but the free version doesn't let you do 360 degree scanning, and the full version isn't automatic. The free version isn't a complete solution because you have to buy the hardware to use it (laser, webcam) and the full version is quite a bit more than $300.

jah, nice. but 300$? isn´t that a bit pricey for THIS? i mean, really, you gotta be kiddin me, cause there are plenty of solutions of 3D-scanners and programs out there for less or sometimes even for free. i mean, dont get me wrong, but 300$? for THIS?
