Our country is in a mess. We NEED more independent farms like yours. It is good not to starve as the economy and our nation crumble.

i hope you don't grow any GMO's or you will end up living as slaves

My mom's side of the family has been farmin since the 1700's. I hope one day to have a farm of my own. Even when I was in kindergarden I wanted to be a farmer.

Thanks for sharing this. My wife and I are bootstrapping our way into farming. We bought a house on a double lot in an urban area just outside the city limits. VERY low mortgage, we're allowed to raise chickens, and we're near several farmers markets. This year we're trying to get plots for market gardens, and we got a truck so we can haul more chickens to the processor. We also got inspected to sell eggs. Working as a landscaper, I've been hauling leaves and grass clippings home to compost.

That's great! We need small farmers everywhere! What part of the country are you in?

Columbus, Ohio. There's a strong market here for organic, locally grown food. It just takes time time to break into it without a lot of money. I just discovered your YouTube posts today. I'm enjoying the series on the Organic Dairyman!

Thanks! Jon Bansen had some great insights on industrial vs. organic farming! Check out 'food network: community supported agriculture'. Laura started out small and was able to grow due to becoming a CSA!
