Barry Goldwater, the Republican Party's presidential candidate in 1964, says his now famous quip:
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is now vice... and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

This is more than a "snazzy line" you fucktard. It has everything to do with our constitution and principle as a society. We must not be HASTE and we must not make WASTE for the future generations. Think about it in those terms if you can. He should have been ELECTED. NO FUCKIN' DOUBT.

FOLKS READ THIS: I own many guns & want to keep them. I found this on a pro-gun anti-gun ban website.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue."

    Barry Goldwater.

This misquote is being spread on the Internet. We can argue on the virtues and vices of Barry Goldwater and his policies & positions. But we should always quote him accurately! We dishonor him and what he stood for by allowing people to intentionally misrepresent his words & views.

(2 of 2) ...It typically accepts or justifies this position on the basis of natural law or tradition. Does this all sound a little Hitlerian to you? It does to me. There is no natural selection remaining, not anthropologically nor economically when opportunity is stifled by those lucky enough to be in control of the game. That kind of Plutocracy destroyed Venice from 1395 to 1500. Even today Venice's largest export is postcards. It was turned into a museum by the Doge.

(1 of 2) An admitted extremist would make Goldwater a right-winger: Wikipedia defines it as. An outlook or specific position that accepts or supports social hierarchy or social inequality. Social hierarchy and social inequality is viewed by those affiliated with the Right as either inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable, whether it arises through tradition social differences or from competition in market economies.

    (1) I said big government, not big business. However, I do believe big corporations are skinny dipping with the government and it needs to stop.

    (2) Give me your definition of conservatism. Because with all respect, I question your knowledge on it.

Yes! "Big business nightmare". I love the way that sounds. Considering they extracted $100 billion in corporate welfare from US tax-payers in 2011, it's about time they stop living off the fat of the land. In that same year social welfare programs drew $56 Billion. (Source: Forbes Magazine - Where to Cut the Federal Budget? Start by Killing Corporate Welfare 8/20/2012) Radical conservatism may have been needed to center the USA from the New Deal Era, but today it's an antique and dangerous.

Wouldn't it be more just to pursue sending blacks back to africa in an effort to make up for past misdeeds, than to give them easier entrance into competitive universities?

Hear hear! I agree. Too many people fail to realize the principles of liberty this republic was built upon.
