Not all are dark but usually that's due to hiding from the sun. Asian women want skin like Western women (light) because they find it more beautiful for some reason. Also it's associated with wealth. It's funny, because Western women want darker skin because it also symbolises ... wealth Dark skin for Asians means "I work in the sunlight in the fields", dark skin for Western people means "I can afford to lie on the beach and get a tan"

A rampant "colour" issue. Just looked at Thai TV.
Dark = underclass.
