Kingsnake encountered during hike in Panamint Range on ridge between Pleasant Canyon and Middle Park Canyon. According to the Audobon California Field Guide these guys are supposed to stay below 6000' in elevation, but this guy was hanging out at 7400' for some reason. The donkeys were grazing in Middle Park Canyon at about 6300' near the location where I started the hike.

  • your songs seem a little less "hard", now they're more classic rock

  • @PIKAMONjake Thanks for watching/listening. I don't think much about the style of the songs I write. I just write them. I used to do more acoustic stuff, but it's a pain to record that way and so I usually stick with electric guitar and bass.

  • Nice one what happened to cute little kittens for youtube

  • @faffytunes Thanks! No kittens hanging out in the mountains where I went on this hike! LOL

  • I'm thinking I wouldn't be going on many hikes if I lived in your area.

    :D

When I was 17, at Lake Havasu, my brothers and I were out on an impromptu hike. It lasted about 50 yards when he got too close to a rattler and we could hear it but not see it. Freaky stuff for folks from the burbs.

  • @RightArmProductions The rattlers do make me nervous. So far I've managed to see them in time, but there have been a few somewhat close calls. On the other hand, it's not like they're hiding around every corner just hoping to get a chance to bite someone. However, putting things into perspective, it's most likely much more dangerous to drive on a crowded and busy Southern California freeway than to go hiking, although in either case there are things one could do to push the envelope!

  • @stufish4040 Thanks! It would have looked better if I had brought my camcorder on the hike, but you can only carry so much before you get weighed down!

  • Cool snake! It looks really nice against the tree's siver bark, & amongst the green of the needles.

  • @biggydman Thanks! I had to sort of wrestle the tree to get close enough for some decent shots of the little critter!

  • @kenrg Hikes are usually a lot of fun even without seeing much wildlife, but there's no doubt that seeing critters like the ones in the video definitely adds to the pleasure!
