@noealz Actually, in this clip, it's the other way around: zooming in while dollying back.
-
@rewlflol I don't think they use another Dolly Shot when zooming in on Frodo. I think they just use a quick zoom in on him.
-
I always wondered how they got that effect. Thanks!
-
It's performed by zooming out while moving dollying towards the object ; )

thanks for this I was really curious what a zolly shot looked like.

You WASTE my time. Can't cut this clip?
-
The funny thing is how the black rider seems to appear from out of the tree rather than continue walking from behind it.. =P
But yeah, nice spot of the technique there.. lol

You cut right before the "Zolly shot" was about to appear though?

lol no I don't. the zolly shot is made when there's a camera zoom + a dolly movement which gives the effect of a weird well zoom going backwards. and in my clip the zolly shot is made when Frodo gives attention to the road. when you see the shot of the empty road with the nazgul scream that's when the zolly shot occures.

Oh right, I didn't know there were several zolly shots during this scene; so i jumped over that part to the near ending. Because there's an even more normal one in the movie - right after your clip is done, they zoom/dolly in on Frodo. Sorry :F
