Minister Was 'too shocked' to help dying cop

Tamil Nadu Health Minister MRK Paneerselvam, who watched a police officer bleed to death, defended himself saying he was too shaken to get out his car and so did his duty by just calling for an ambulance.

"It was only the idea of giving him the right medical treatment that delayed it a bit. It's not true that I did not get out of the car to help the police officer. I am not inhuman. How can one not get out after seeing the condition for that person?" said Paneerselvam about Tamil Nadu police sub inspector R Vetrivel, who was bleeding to death on a highway after being attacked by gangsters.

"I got down with the mobile and the first thing that I did was to call the ambulance and when we realised that it was going to be delayed we took him in one of our cars to the hospital," he said.

However, an eyewitness said that the minister did not offer any help to the dying police officer.
