Did WOR NYC air reruns of the 1950's Ernie Kovacks Take a Good Look in late 1978?

  • this came from a championship wrestling show wor-tv ran on saturday nights

  • It always seemed like NEW 5 always got the "classy", award winning shows (MASH, All in The Family, WKRP), PIX got the "fun, brainless shows" (Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley) and WOR got whatever was hard to syndicate (Dr Who, Battlestar Galactica/Buck Rodgers, Soap, Benny Hill)

  • I applied Polyglycoat to several cars at a car dealer working one summer break back then. I think the Dealer invoiced $300 for the service. One day I met the PGC Sales Rep and he gave me a free tube of the stuff. I said wow, you just gave me something worth $300! He gave me that "Madison Ave" smile, and said: "Son, you have a lot to learn." ....Did the Wrestling include Bruno Sammartino, Chief Jay, Haystacks, Ivan Putsky, etc? Can you post some of that?

  • so is before they became upn and my network?

  • @retroguy1976 me 2

  • That heart song in that commercial is in gta4 lol

  • I'd tap that.

  • I'm surprised that this promo was for the 1978-79 and 1979-80 seasons.

  • I don't think reruns of "Take A Good Look"ever appeared anywhere else.

I could understand if WOR had been given a national exclusive a few years later with "Take A Good Look" reruns, given that for much of the 1980's, they were a superstation and were on most of the nation's cable television systems.

But this preceded WOR becoming a superstation.

  • In October (and I believe part of early November) 1978, WOR presented a limited number of episodes of Ernie Kovacs' "TAKE A GOOD LOOK" (through the courtesy of Edie Adams, who had the rights to them and salvaged what remained of the original 1959-'61 videotapes, from ABC) weeknights at 11:30. Yes, I remember the show! It was a comedy variation of "WHAT'S MY LINE?". I also remember the Freedent gum ad...and their jingle {"Feel free to chew Freedent....Freedent Gum"}.
