Same issue running 2.0.1 firmware. Sometimes holding the home button for 5 seconds or so helps.

i want to get an unlocked 3g iphone but it seems the only way to fix the lag is an update and if i do that it will permanently lock the phone. Does the first gen iphone lag also?

yea dude i got tha same problem so much for spending 500 bucks. but there working on a version 2.01

That is terrible. I was going to get an iphone 3g, but not when this sort of stuff is going on. Ill only get one if apple fix this with a software update..
