I actually like this version better. He made it more creepy and disturbing. Tessie is also more of a sympathic martyr in this version.
As dark as the story is, Summers allows us a small laugh here and there.
I also like the use of the tragic Watson. It's clear what he wanted, but since he didn't get it, he has to play by the rules and side with the others.

Oh, brother. I can understand when they turn long novels into movies that they don't stick with the book, but this is "The Lottery" for Pete's sake. It's not even two pages long. There is no reason for not sticking with how it was written. They excluded a lot of symbolic details and characterization details by changing it.

One more thing I really like. Summers is the real politician, isn't he?
He greets everyone warmly. (He knows full well what's going to happen.) But yet he can greet everyone and even generate some comedy. He'll even apologize for some minor errors knowing that something REALLY serious is about to happen.
Great politician! He smiles and has a good sense of humor, but is everready to stab who he has to.
No mistake that he accepts and responds to a bit of humor from Tessie.

No problem. :)
I think the version with the young Ed Begley Jr is good.
But I like how you made it in B+W yet with more modern looking outfits. And you did a great job of mixing a small amount of laughs in before the sad end.
Warner was well done. The guy who believes in it and keeps going.
I would have had fun doing Watson. The man with the deathwish who wanted to die but couldn't. Thus he has to go on in life and play by the rules to their full force.

we read this story in our class and my teacher explains that the main idea of this story is that how stupid thinking as a group can be. Like if Tessie tell her kids to go clean up his room or something he's not gonna pick a rock and throw it at all but the socitey influences him
