On the eve of a ballot for strike action to defend sacked Linamar (ex-Ford Visteon) convenor, Rob Williams, 250 trade unionists met in the Dolphin Hotel Swansea on the evening of Wednesday, 13 May 2009.

A coachload of supporters came from the Basildon Visteon Plant. Workers from the Enfield Visteon plant were also in attendance. Many of the Visteon workers wore "Betrayed by Ford" T-shirts.

Both convenors spoke from the platform and they brought greetings from the heroic Visteon Belfast plant - which had been in occupation for seven weeks. (A delegation of six from Belfast Visteon had visited the protest outside the Linamar plant the week before.)

There were also delegations from Fords, Bridgend; TRW, Resolven; Honda, Swindon and Rolls Royce, Bristol. From outside the car industry, there were delgations from the RMT, the CWU, PCS, UNISON, UCU, etc.
