Tek note:
Tracked with MONET then altered and tweaked the tracking data into something that After Effects can actually use rather than the crap export settings it expects you to use. Result that face is stuck onto my thumb like superglue.

did you mask and rotoscape, and trake it all. if you did how long it take?

I masked the face parts i needed in one comp dragged it into another comp with the thumb footage on, motion tracked the thumb with MONET fed the data from that to the face layer. Doing that way is many times quicker, plus the motion tracker in After Effects is atrocious it shouldn't even be in the programme lol.

Did you manually move the face to keep it on the  thumb, or do you use motion tracking? I always wondered if there was an easier way than moving it by hand frame-by-frame.

Hi cursesfoiled, for a 30 second shot like this there was no way i was manually gonna rotoscope and track the face, i used Imagineers Monet its the best non 3d tracker (they call it 2.5d) on the planet, they do another tracker called Mocha too which is essentially the same application, you then take the data into After Effects (well try too just needs tweaking) some shot can be tracked with on mouse click PERFECTLY.
