He sings this very well - and although he can ruin light music he is very organised and thoughtful in this difficult music. Well done.

THE BEST TENOR OF THE HISTORY. SIEMPRE BELLCANTO

It' s a dream today to perform an opera like Zandonai's Giulietta e Romeo without a voice like this... Thanks Mr. Del Monaco

@francotenelli Try listening to his forza arias for pianos and some Ballo in Maschera ARIAS. I never heard Martinelli live. I hear he was excellent but he is a little hard to take on records.MDM 's voice speaks for itself . He develop a niche for himself with his Dramatic singing that was unmatched and always managed to thrill audiences throughout his career and was always a dedicated artist. Enjoy

Mario tutta la vita. Un tenore e non una mezza calza come Kaufmann, che secondo i deliri di qualcuno sarebbe un vero declamatore....

Mario del Monaco, the King of Tenors!!!!!!!!!!!
This Zandonai´s aria is very seldom sung because few dare to match so much artistry.
Listen to Alagna version is check for yourselves the disaster... has no involvement, no drama... poor Alagna...

I have a DVD "the greatest singers of the 20the century" and Mario was not included-somebody decided he is not as good as Martinelli for excample ???
Yes, he was not always on pitch and did not have pianos but what a voice and true expressions he's got, what an singing actor he was.
My father attended his Don Jose in Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, he said: he never heard anybody like him earlier or later.
He is truely one of a kind

One Great Somebody said once " Forgive them , because they don't know what they do"
Yes, he was not always on pitch but I am pretty sure that 99% of tenors would like to pay with own soul for the ability of such singing... and he did have pianos;) You know for sure his renditions of " Dio mi potevi.."
See you soon Franco ;))
