Before you comment, please do realize I am not a pro at fixing airsofts, so the chance of me helping you would be slim as I had replaced everything in the gun and got a new battery for it to work. That being said, I am not sure what was wrong with the gun in the first place.

Here are some things I recommend you try:

1 Return your gun if you can as Dboys are very unreliable based on user's comments and the like.

2 Don't bring it to a shop to get it fixed as the price to get a new gun that won't break would be cheaper. Significantly (I also would NOT recommend going to Airsoft Extreme in San Jose as the people working there are both not knowledgeable and broke my gun while giving me a quote of how much it would cost to fix it)

3. Try asking on: airsoftforum.com . With a little learning and asking the right questions on the forum, you should be able to strip the gun and fix it at a basic level at least. They are awesome!

4. Try a new battery. I tried one a little higher voltage than stock. However doing so has a chance of blowing your fuse.

I am really sorry that I can't help you guys further due to the nature of issues that can come up for your gun to operate in this condition. There are a few reasons for this to occur and all of the fixed vary from battery/motor replacement to gear and shim replacement.

I wish you luck!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys. Any help would be realllly appreciated. So after owning my gun for three months, the gearbox decided to die on me, so I had replaced it. The company I had originally bought it from, Airsplat, had horrible tech support.

I got fed up and called Airsoft Extreme who said they could give me a free motor height adjustment after I had described the problem, fixed it, and then started having the same problem the next day. That visit was useless as the person instantly decided to tell me that it would cost $45 an hour and the gun would be there for three weeks(2 hours would cost as much as the gun itself)!!! He had also broken the latch that holds my battery cover in place, put it back, and asked me to open the compartment thinking that I wouldn't notice.

So I am sure that it is the motor height that is off, but when the adjustment knub is cranked lower, the motor sounds like it is spinning freely (gears aren't touching). If it goes lower, it makes a grinding sound. Earlier, there was a point in between where the gun would fire. Now I cant seem to get it to work unless I push the motor in with my finger. Considering that I had installed a new gearbox, which is like 70% of the gun's mechanism, I don't see what else could fail!?

Btw, the gun is a Dboys M4A1. Thanks!

  • That might be it. Almost every gun i bought from Airsplat was DOA (ak came broken twice an ended up getting a p90 replacement, m4 also came broken twice once with a broken muzzle cap an another with a blown fuse) Thought it was just ill luck.

  • oh ya! i had a Dboys m4 ris. piece of junk. it was not reliable, freaking cheap metal, bad gear box and peq got annoying. easy fix buy a new gun and never get dboy's... anyways Good job on fixing the problem. i gave up on my gun.

  • @geochiu Thanks! Really guys, if you don't have time on your hands to learn to fix this, it isn't a project for you. Popping open the gearbox will cause all of the shims and gears to pop out forcing you to learn about how those work. The best thing to do, if you still can, is to return your D-boys. I love how it works now, but it's not a Dboys anymore...

  • my motor turns but the gears dont. what could be wrong with it?

  • @ddddduuuuusssss Well, the gears are jammed. Look into gearbox dissembly tuts and check the shimming, oil, and look for any broken gears. But first, make sure it's not that the motor is too close to the gearbox (adjust with the screw at the bottom of the grip to raise/lower it until it shoots). If the above doesn't work, then this is possibly battery problem.

  • i have a dboys m4cqbr and i had the same problem but i fixed by raising the motor with the motor adjustment thing in the bottom of the grip of the gun btw i think dboys is a really good airsoft brand ive had the m4 for 1 1/2 years. people say that thers comes broken when they order it from airsoft gi and airsplat i bought mine at airsoft megastore . i think its the stores fault not the brand. thats what i have to say

  • My friend has this Dboy and basically its the same story every weekend with the problems.

First off it is a weak battery issue. You would definately need a higher voltage. (9.6v for 350fps+)

Second, that Dboy design is truly a POS so upgrade! Even after upgrading the battery it will still jam easily. We're using a 9.6v 2000mAh.

If you want bang for you buck look into ICS M4. Never jam (unjamming button), they're very solid, extremely easy to open (split gearbox), and shoot straight

  • @ASoftaaja Rookies :/ Poor gun.

  • this is the same thing that happened with my ak74 cm.048.. version.3 gearbox

idk how to fix it plz help

  • aww dude, basically ALL you had WRONG with that gun was that your BATTERY was too weak to pull the spring fully back. makes me feel so sad when people think their gun is totally broken and replace all the parts with ridiculous cost/take the gun to a "experienced" airsoft shop to repair and pay a horrible price for it and in reality the guys working there know absolutely nothing how to properly fix these guns.

  • @llXxKhaosxXll cool

  • @SuperKingofkings01 Evike.com

  • @gustan you could just take the grip off and force the AR latch to pull back with like a screw driver.. so i wont mess up when u open it..
