Tunnel Boring Machine Installing Concrete Segments 50 feet below river

This is the beginning of a tunnel that will be 50 feet below the surface of a river. The concrete pieces are called tunnel liners or segments. This particular project has 6 pieces in a ring which is 14 feet in diameter and 5 feet wide. The machine in the foreground is a Lovat TBM (tunnel boring machine).
