@gngeek08 25 if I recall correctly... and it depends on the railroad and how they do their training programs. She has been doing it off and on the last 3 years... She is starting up at the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad as a fireman and engineer this season along with continuing onward with Chehalis so I am sure there will be more of her.

@bigkiwimike Its the Cowlitz, Chehalis & Cascade No. 15 and she operates out of Chehalis, Washington.

How do people learn something like this. I have always wanted to work on a steam train and learn the science and art of a machine that size....

@dddeadly Head to your local tourist railroad and see what is required to volunteer =) Depending on how their rules are, it isn't too difficult to get into steam.
