Odd moment on Leave It To Beaver where they dub the voice of another actor over Hugh Beaumont's. This guy sounds nothing like Ward.

  • It's him. The recording quality is poor because technology wasn't as good for exterior scenes then. But as one who was around for the series when it WASN'T on TVLand, I can tell you it was Hugh.

  • It sounds the same as his voice always does. Much ado about nothing...

  • How dare you insinuate that voice is not Ward's. You sir, have crossed the line. I am reporting you.

  • What the hell are you talking about? His voice is perfectly in sequence to his mouth, "Wally's" voice is also sort of tinny in the same way his voice is, and at no time does any part of it either appear or sound like it was dubbed in.

  • it's Him

  • Wrong. It is Mr Beaumont. The treble on the EQ at 1000hz was 6 db too high, that's all.

  • I've watched this show for years and this is the only scene in the entire series where I've always thought that Ward's voice sounded funny.

If the trouble was shooting outdoors, then why didn't Wally's voice sound funny too? If it was an overdub done by Beaumont, why wouldn't his voice sound exactly right?

It may be Beaumont's voice but it's certainly not obviously him.

  • No way in HELL is that Hugh Beaumont talking- it sounds more like Richard Deacon imitating Beaumont. Another mystery to tackle: in the Christmas episode of Green Acres, why was ALL of Eddie Albert's dialogue dubbed in later? It looks like he's in a Godzilla movie!

  • Sounds like it was redubbed in the studio. They probably had sound problems with taping outside. Dubbing, or redoing the dialogue, is much more common than people think. Some TV shows redubb 90% of the dialogue.

  • DUH,,,, THATS HIS VOICE.

  • I think it was him too. But, my most favorite Hugh moment was before Beaver when he was an ex-con on the Adv of Superman 1953 ....Supey had to save him after he accidentally locked himself inthe fur vault.

  • its his voice. no doubt. And no reason to dub anothers voice there
