BBC/OU Annual Lecture 2009: Dawkins on Darwin (Part 1 of 5)

Professor Richard Dawkins delivered this year's Open University lecture at the Natural History Museum on Tuesday 17th March 2009. Dawkins presented to an invited audience and investigated if Darwin was the most revolutionary scientist ever, and examined the evolutionary theories of his contemporaries.

Dawkins suggests that there are four "bridges to evolutionary understanding" and illustrates this with four claimants to the evolution of natural selection: Edward Blyth, Patrick Matthew, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. The fifth bridge of evolutionary understanding is identified as modern genetics which he terms digital Darwinism.

@Turbo05Dodge Are you talking about life in the sense of the first living cells? That is the subject we call A-biogenesis. Life from other materials.

See, whats different from science VS religion is that in science, when you dont know something, you dont conclude anything. Since we dont have absolote evidence of exactly when or where life started, we do the honest thing and say ""We dont know"". In religion, you say ""We dont know, therefore its gotta be god""

lol Darwinism is just as much about faith when you take it to the core as religion. You can take elevation to a point where you still can't figure out what creation actually is....I'm not here because I think the bible is fact written by god, but out of interest in many subjects, but I find it hilarious that so many Darwinist make fun of religion....you just found a smarter sounding modern religion in many ways.
