  • i love my collie Denver. i had him for 12 years :)

i got him when i was 5 lol. he means the world to me

  • @snokidin could you tell me how you raised them to have manners? I would like to know.

  • @Tylerunderfire To each their own... but more children and adults are bitten by shepherds and huskies then were ever bitten by a Collie. Any breed will bite if mishandled, abused, or protecting its self. My brother has Shepherds who are wonderful dogs and I have had a Siberian and Samoyeds along with my Collies for over 30 years. All my dogs were good dogs because they were raised to have manners and because I respected them. All breeds have health problems, some lines more then others.

  • @pandajuice100 I've had one dysplastic Collie in 51 years. They are either born with hip dysplasia or they're not, they do tend to lose muscle mass in their older years, which then causes their rear ends to weaken making it difficult to get up. Generally all of my Collies have lived nice long lives and the majority of them were put down because they went down in the rear. They are really wonderful dogs!

  • @djarmyfantage Collies tend to be a more healthy breed then the Dobermans. I love the Dobes but they are generally not as long lived as the Collie. Both are wonderful companions and very intelligent. I use to have a friend who had 7 Dobes and got out of them because of the health issues.

  • @catha86 It is a female, they tend to drop most of their coats after they raise a litter and/or after their seasons. Spayed females keep more coat. Spayed and neutered dogs tend to develope a thicker coat, which means grooming can be more difficult. I am no longer able to groom my own dogs, so have a groomer throughly brush them out, trim them and bathe them every 8-10 weeks. I can manage a little brushing in-between.

  • I've had two males live to 13 1/2, my current two males, are William nearly 11 and Stetson will be 10 in February.

  • @snokidin what is the oldest one you've had?

  • @catha86 It looks like the undercoat was brushed out. Rough collies have a double coat. If you’re considering a collie you really need to do your homework on how to properly take of their coat. They are high maintenance in the grooming department. If left alone the hair will matt up and make hot spots and is quite painful for them. Just make sure you have the time and patience for their coat. With that said, collies are the best dogs on planet earth, period. :)

  • why is the dog in 1:35 so less coated? Please tell me because I want a collie just like that.
