if you don't want a points system, just play dba, (de bellis antiquitatis.) Its basicly this game, but simpler. there are only 12 units an army, and takes only 30 minutes at most. Same thing, but simpler, and no points cost.

maybe you mean the Tuareg
yes they do speak Berber but they have a true African blood, while the Berber kabyls who live in north Algeria are white people originally from Europe.
Algeria the mother country of Berbers is not a desert.... look for Chrea algeria mountains kabylia ... algeria nature ... its more awsome than europe trust me

I desperately want to know how to play this game. I've read pretty much every site on the web about the game- still dont get it. I'm assuming the point system means the game always involves maths.
Em, also berbers were just a desert tribe, whilst the vikings were a lot more successful militarily so why is it unrealistic the vikings won? I admit I'm not sharp on history so the the question is actually genuine. Why is it unrealistic for the vikings to beat the berbers?

your best bet is to subscribe to the yahoo group DBM List, and also buy a set of DBM (or eve DBA) rules from an online retailer - most of the figure manufacturers listed on madaxeman . com will have rules too. There may also be a club near where you live. Try the BHGS website for listings of UK clubs.
The berbers are simply a better army under DBM. And they werent just a desert tribe. They conquered all of North Africa, and conquered Spain which was then a Moslem country for 700 yrs!!
