Just recently happened. Be careful if you own one of these machines.

  • I've seen many videos of American frontloaders and they seem to be pretty bad compared to uk ones. My mums is 10yrs old and still going strong, my dads is 6yrs old and going strong. I have a modern version of my parents which is in constant use as I live with my mates and it's not broken down since I've had it.

  • @phillipmerrick12 I'm heading out to the UK this summer, i might check some of their washers out!

But yeah, you do have a point. However we do have some great top loading, agitator free washers.

  • Did u ever get this fixed? How much was the repair charge? I shudder to think!

  • Yes, free, and don't worry :)

  • no offense but that washer and whirlpool frontloader are cunt sucking malignant cancer infested cock suckers!!!! you pay about 1000 or a little under for a washer and then stupid glitches and technical difficulties and while frontloaders may be more efficient in washing and energy blah blah they are slightly less dependable...thanks i will stick with my toploader!!!!

  • Good idea. I'm definetly gonna demand a refund. I've heard good about the calypso washer and that it's like the no. 2 most efficient washer out there.

  • I have the Kenmore HE3t which is the same as the Duet. The electronic problems of these machines are caused by the machine's heavy vibration when it spins. I learned to put some shock absorbing material like a piece of solid rubber or a rubber mat under each leg in order to keep vibration to a minimum. You wouldn't violently shake a laptop or an X-Box every time you used it would you? Why shouldn't an electronic control panel on a washing machine be different.

  • HOWEVER! We had a similar problem with an older model constantly blowing the board - it ended up being that our house was wired wrong and the fridge was on the same circuit and kept stealing power from the washer - and thus frying the board. Happened constantly until it flooded our house, then we got a new one. So, you might call an electrician to check out your house circuits to ensure they are ok, as well.

  • This is a German Washer Not American. All the Duets and HE model Kenmores are made by the German division of Whirlpool Bauknecht Appliance Corp.

  • @scribblesomeone Where abouts are you visiting? I live in Liverpool home to the Beetles, it's a brilliant city and was born in Nottingham home of Robin Hood, again another great city and is renowned for its lace. I've got videos of front loaders, the only ones you avoid here are Hotpoint and Indesit (they're part of the Indesit group), and Hoover and Candy, though their quality is improving. I myself own Zanussi which are part of the elctrolux group, they're a reliable brand in the UK.

  • @somestuff2day I'm considering replacing my 7-year whirlpool top loader with a front loader because of their efficiency, so I thought I'd hop on Youtube and read about them, WOW, what CRAP, I think I'll stick with the old one! If I had the same problems these people had, I think I'd somehow through it through their front window like a bad tire!!! In today's world and with today technology, there is NO excuse for shoddy consumer goods like this, I can't afford a $1000 washer every two years...

  • I am an Appliance tech. and I advise all to stay away from all front load washers. They do not last and repairs out way the savings.

  • I say, someone ought to start a new appliance company, that builds dependable appliances. Makes me sick that washers can't last more than 10 years.

  • hey quick question how did you fix that problem....

  • @scribblesomeone Do you know if this was the center user interface? Mine lights up to the left when I turn it right, and some settings don't light up at all like yours is doing. How did you get it fixed free? Mine started doing this when it was like 4 months old.

  • @somestuff2day Hate to tell you this, but they're ALL junk. Show me one machine manufactured in present day that's made to last 20 years or more, and I'll eat it.
