Fluoride, or Hydrofluorosilic acid (H 2 SiF 6 ), is not naturally occurring but is a waste by-product derived from the industrial manufacture of aluminium, zinc, uranium, aerosols, insecticides, fertilizers, plastics, lubricants and pharmaceuticals.
It is also a Part II Poison under the UK Poisons Act 1972 ranking in toxicity above lead and just below arsenic.
Fluoride is one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin nerve gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUoride).
American toothpastes containing fluoride are by law obliged to state, '"WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately."

Idiots, the amount of fluorine in our water systems is too small to be of any concern. The LD50 for NaF is 52-200mg, per KG!. A 50kg person needs to consume at least 2.6 grams of pure sodium fluoride in order to even come close to the fatal dose. The concentration of NaF in drinking water is 1mg/L. The person needs to drink, just 2600L of fluorinated water in order to come close to the fatal dose. And no, fluorine isn't that cumulative, as a poison. NaF is used to treat osteoporosis as well.

My city puts flouride, chlorine, polyethylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, and polymer in the water. Without this, you're playing Russian roulette with your life. Stuff would grow in the water, and *sip*... *ARG*....*clunk*...*dead*. Yes it tears up your teeth, but you're not dead from amoebas eating your brain. Look up Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis. Your body metabolises NaF, foods that you consume contain fluoride too, the enamel of your teeth and much of the bone structure is held together by ions of calcium and fluoride, so, LOL, sodium fluoride does no more harm to you than nitrite salt used on cold meats. The lethal dose for a 70kg man would be 10g of it. you would have to drink ridiculous amounts of water in a single day, far beyond that what your body can handle, to even get anywhere 5g of NaF. You'd die of H2O poisoning first.

Toward the end: Yeah, if you lived in the 1950s smoking cigarettes was actually good for you, even doctor recommended and even Fred Flintsone and Barney Rubble were smoking and did an ad about cigarettes, nothing like catching the kids while they are young. That gave Flintsones Vitamins a whole new meaning, pop a vitamin tab & light up a cigarette.
