UK's Patrick Campbell-Lyons & Alex Spyropoulos banged out some fine ground-breaking LP's, and this pulled-single was a mild chart-nudger

  • Musn't forget the "You Can All Join In" title track by Dave Mason. A joyous little ditty written by Dave and sung by himself. Funny ~ all of Traffic on the cover except for... Dave!. Cropped out faces (only bits of hair), belong to Richard Thompson (Fairport), Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull), Chris Mercer (Wynder K Frog).

  • @SuperNevile Fear not...for YCAJI in soon to appear as my last upload off that LP

  • @LiseMette: in case you hadn't noticed this is a 60's band, way from before Kurt's Nirvana. So it's not like they copied them! It's the 90's band that's not original xD

Can't really compare such different styles to each other but this Nirvana is waaay more my thing, love this song <3

  • @SuperNevile WOW I got GREEN DOOR by Wynder K Frog on my JukeBox ......never knew his name or connections till now ..... love the disc for since it first released !!GONNA PLAY IT NOW ♬♬♬

  • In 1967 NIRVANA released an LP called: "THE STORY OF SIMON SIMOPATH" which we L♥VED + John Peel played on his Radio London show: "The Perfumed Garden" ! [RADIO LONDON = BIG L = The Radio Ship]

My fave track is "In The Courtyard of Stars" with the fab line:

" ... you sleep awhile on the beach-front city at midnight ......" ....... Then they went away ++ some other fellas nicked their name ........... BUT

    HERE AT DOOM ***

    WE STILL LOVE THEM ***

    THE END.

  • @theboyfromxtown The LP version: with the main vocal melody line, an audio technique was used where they applied additional muted vocal harmonies, and polished double tracking, to improve the overall tonality. It was virtually undetectable, you have to listen carefully to a vinyl version rather than a CD of Rainbow Chaser. It was altogether mixed and blended to lose the rawness of the single. I detected extra string accompaniment in the first chorus, and hidden vocal phrasing on the final.

  • @jtaellio11 OWAP, was an absolutely brilliant single ~ my vinyl sounds better than the CD track on TOAC. I even remember it being played on the radio and it was outstanding amongst the other songs being played. Should have been a hit (like the rest) ~ fantastic piano riff by Gary Wright (Spooky Tooth). One of the best piano riffs ever.

  • @SuperNeville Oddly, I have a liking for 'Oh What a Performance' above all the other Nirvana's, Rainbow Chaser excepted. OWAP is very evocative of the time, almost like their swansong in that it was produced in 1969. For other psychedelic tracks try Spin Spin Spin by HP Lovecraft and Beeside by Tintern Abbey about 1967.I found them on the cd Sergeant Salt & Other Condiments, plus the old Nirvana Rainbow Chaser. I'm sure the RC CD track has a thinner, more compressed sound than on the LP.

  • @SuperNevile I think I first heard Nirvana's 'Excerpt from the 'blind and Beautiful' in 1989. It was published on a rapidly declining vinyl 33 LP at that time, a psychedelic retro label called 'Bam Caruso' - Illusions from the Crackling Void I think it was called. The same label then published a Nirvana album, 'Black Flower' including Tiny Goddess which was more or less a collective repress of their 1971 Metromedia record 'To Markos 111'.

  • @jtaellio11 Yes,thanks, just checked it out. First time I've heard that great single. My music education continues! Amazing how many great records were put out 67/68, that were never heard mainstream. Would never have heard Grapefruit if it was not for YT. Interesting that I never heard "All Of Us" played on the radio either. Looking for Tiny Goddess, found all the other Nirvana singles at record fairs ~ but couldn't find Tiny Goddess 'til the "Travelling On A Cloud" CD came out.

  • @SuperNevile I also remember the phasing on the single, 'Dear Delilah' by Grapefruit, 1968.

  • @SuperNevile Yes, I would say that Richard Thompson was a 'pretty' male of the '60's, also Steve Winwood. I remember Nirvana mentioned that Ian Anderson didn't want them in the photoshoot for some reason, perhaps it went to his head. Yes it was Hyde Park, looks like traditional 6cm square roll film technology of the '60's.

  • @jtaellio11 Don't know about that. Richard Thompson was one of the 'prettiest' guys in the folk rock scene at the time~ check out some photos and YT clips to see that!. Interesting that the composers of two of the tracks are not on the cover. Thanks tho' for the explanation of the cut offs. I believe I read somewhere that they were all dragged into Hyde Park at a very early hour on a cold day, after a wild party, and some of them weren't pleased about that! Cheers
