Tsunami was released on January 26, 2000, their 44th single. It was used as theme song of Mirai Nikki III, a popular part of the TBS program called Un-nan no Hontoko!, and made a strong impression on many people. Including another issue, this single sold about 2,930,000 copies. It is the third best-selling single in Japan of all time. On New Year's Eve of 2000, Tsunami won the 42nd Japan Record Award.

Holy cow their 44th single! I landed in Japan for the first time on 1/3/00, 23 days before this was released. Every time I went to Pot-Pot for a curry dinner, this was on. And if it wasn't, I just made my meal last long enough so that it did come on! This could possibly be the best melody of all time in any language.
