  • How about "Guesstimation Ale" on the fly? Great vid man!!!

  • @hoppinglion01 I like it! I think thats the best I got. Guesstimation Ale it is!! Thanks!

  • how about "auto clean oven ale" !

  • @TheSuperdiscobreaks I kinda like Oven Ale.

  • you did well for your first experimental batch. just a tip though... don't cover your pot with a lid during the boil. it stops dimethyl sulfides escaping which produce off flavours in your beer

  • @sonnyjim7579 It was just the camera angle. The lid was on an angle leaving about a 2 inch gap.

  • Fuckit! close enough!

  • cutting lines of hops like it was cocaine ^_^

  • turkey freyers will be on sale at HomeDepot after thanksgiving (US holiday) at the end of November...they hold about 8 gallons, perfect for grainbag all-grain recipes...mash to boil in probablt 20min..use less water and rinse with hot water to get sugars out

  • great 1st try, welcome to the obsession

  • I'm not sure if anyone told you this but when you boil your wort you need to do so uncovered. There are nasties that need to boil off (I think they're sulfur compounds but don't quote me on that) and boiling uncovered for an hour makes quite a bit of water evaporate. I think that this might be the reason that your wort finished the boil so watered down. Anyway, great to see you stepping up your game. Best of luck with future brews and I'll keep my fingers crossed for this batch.

  • Just a heads up. If you lose your scale, break your scale, or don't have a scale, two 16oz. peanutbutter jars full of grain is one pound. Also, dividing the batch into smaller pots makes things easier. I wouldn't be surprised if that batch turned out great.

  • Nice, welcome to AG brewing, ur LHBS has a scale so weigh out recipe their. ur 5gal bag is fine, try 1.5qt water per lb of grains ( +1 steeljan add salts to ro water before mash) and slowly pour grains into bag and stir as you fill it, step mash, 112f -20min, 132f-20min & 152f-40min,(stir often) then heat rinse water to 170f and slowly pour over grains. ( mark ur pot in 1gal increments so you'll how much water&wort you have) also get another 5gal bag for the pellet hops.

    BREW ON !
