The eucalyptus tree is among the most widely
grown in the world. Currently, most of the eucalyptus in Kenya is grown for commercial purposes. Controversy has however shrouded its growth in the country, because it is a fast growing plant that consumes enormous amounts of water through its roots, thus denying plants growing around it water and nutrients .While the Environment Ministry launched a drive to uproot eucalyptus trees, the Kenya Forest Service, recently launched guidelines on eucalyptus growing in Kenya.
