  • True or False: writing "Dear so and so" is sexual harassment?

True or False: calling some girl "Honey", "Sweetheart", "Baby", "Sweet cheeks", and "Cutie" sexual harassment?

  • @dafranx Writing "Dear so and so" is a customary greeting and probably wouldn't be considered sexual harassment, depending on the circumstances.

Calling someone "Honey," "Sweetheart," etc., can be considered sexual harassment. Again, it all depends on the circumstances.

  • "Harassment" occurs if the person is annoyed, offended, afraid or otherwise disturbed by the conduct. Everyone has the right to reject anyone else's sexual advances, for any reason -- attractiveness, approach, personality, drug use, either person's involvement other relationships, job consequences (supervisor-subordinate relationsthip), risks (STD or any other kind), etc. And, yes, even men who flirt may reject advances from the women who makes advances on all men -- or "too many" men.

  • You're right about everyone having the right to object to or reject sexual advances for any reason. The video covers the basis of what can constitute sexual harassment and the material we used came straight from the EEOC.

Thanks for the insightful comments. Regardless of the legal element, people should just treat each other right, eh?

    Peace,

    David

  • Nice to see that people are aware of the existence of predatory women in this world, too. And anyone in the workplace will tell you that if HR did their job, they'd be OUT of a job.

  • That's an interesting point. I believe the goal of a good HR person should be to work themselves out of a job. Of course, other factors play in that won't let that happen, starting with how people are raised by their parents. LOL

Have a great week. Thanks for the insightful comment.

    Peace,

    David

That's how this bullshit works. See, these rules aren't really in place to make for a better workplace, they are like the weapons on the sides of Thunderdome. I worked for the nation's largest bank, supposedly a great place for a gay man to work. What a con "diversity" is. You know what diversity is? It's a veneer of black females and hispanic males in the front row of the company photo, while the top row is the same as it has always been.
