In this haunting portrait of America's oil-fueled excesses, director Adolfo Doring explores the inextricable link between the energy we use, the way we run our economy, and the multiplying threats that now confront the environmental health and stability of our planet. Taking as its starting point the inevitable energy depletion scenario known as "Peak Oil," the film surveys a fascinating range of the latest intellectual, political, and scientific thought to make the case that by whatever measure of greed, wishful thinking, neglect, or ignorance, we now find ourselves at a disturbing crossroads: we can continue to burn fossil fuels and witness the collapse of our ecology, or we can choose not to and witness the collapse of our economy. Refusing to whitewash this reality, Blind Spot issues a call to action, urging us to face up to the perilous situation we now find ourselves in so that we might begin to envision a realistic, if inconvenient, way out. Certain to inspire debate in classrooms across a range of disciplines, especially in economics, environmental studies, the natural sciences, and political science.

  • We are the stupidest country in the world. 2/3 are fat . shoe sizes bigger then our iQs . big ass suv soccer mom wishing she was lady gaga taking her kids to playland at mc donalds. kids that work at fast food instead of going to cheap goverment subidized college. companys handing over our tech to China in exchange to build a plant and cheap labor. a goverment divided that can not do anything ,except raise taxes to pay for more missles. I believe this country is at a end, A new Rome is born.

  • So we know what the problem is. A misled promise. The solution though is yet to be collectively pointed to. I like to think that we can 'build' a net which works to address the issues of 10 energy units producing 1 food unit, or why it cost 1 dollar for a few plastic folders. How about belief in the idea that 'there are no problems, only solutions"? Very nice editing job though :)

  • Preach.

  • This really sucks, the green or the environmentalist have to understand that the reason why 6 billion humans can live in a planet is because of high energy density technology, and tool that has transformed agricultural produc, especially in the USA. If you want mass starvation destroy the last 1% of farmers, then you can save the plants and the lilies. you guys are dangerous, the new face of green fascism, because you work for the corporation that see their power lost when a human being is born.

  • yeah , great intentions!yet, wrong implications! I wonder , if u even understand , that what u were here talking about is GENOCIDE, masked in GREEN!! the world is what it is , not because of whichever material, such as gasoline but due to some sinister policies made by some influential ppl, in order to create a certain result, which in this case wold be De-industrialization of whole regions ,so the ppl and countries then become more vulnerable and more easy to concur by corporation empire!!!

  • Another great Video!
