I can't tell you,SJ , how delighted I am to see this performance by Panditji back. When classically trained masters sing, their voice sounds as effortless, as silken in the ascent and descent, as in this clip. Yet we know that behind that seeming effortlessness lie years of disciplined effort-- riaz as we often call it. It's like the great zen masters who utter words of insight and wisdom in apparent spontaneity after years of meditative living. Thanks for this geet of warm spousal memory.

@crazyoldsongs here is the translation for the missing stanza:
The tears I am shading are crystallizing into an image (of you)
And even that image is distancing me knowing she will dissolve in this ocean (of my grief)
Walks away stubbornly but still remains the attachment
And yet, the embrace that will satiate my heart is not present

Anil- milestone in Marathi Poetry; created Dashapadi, sort of a sonnet, his poetry was both romantic and idealistic. His critics had a complaint- "he is too easy to understand!"-tyanchi kavita durbodh naahi! A magistrate, Anil was a sheeghrakavi. I am also an admirer of Kusumavati bai's prose. I read their Kusumanil -their collected love letters- very early in life! Ajuni rusoon aahe- it is an ode in bereavement of Kusumavati, but that Anil wrote it just after her last breath is immature figs!

There is also associated with this great poem a story, perhaps a fable. As we know that the couple fell in love and got married and led a very long happy married life. When she breathed last, it was before her corpse, the poet seemed that ' it appears, from your silence, that you are still angry with me! But your anger never lasts so long? How come that I too am unable to understand it?" etc. May be fictitious, but the story adds an additional delicacy, subtle meaning to the words. Wonderful !!

@chamogaa its an amazing rendition inspite of a lung surgery which did not desist him from continuing his passion for classical singing ! i did not know that only one lung is being used by panditji for his singing . the poem is a moving tribute to the poet's wife and his devotion to her ! thank you so much for this forward !

thanks a million sj, your poignant translation captured the essence of this ethereal composition... i have not cried so much in a long time now!!
feel so unfortunate for the young ones today, they probably will never hear this or be touched by unfettering selfless love!! i hope they do, though!

@ssardesh You are absolutely right. I have dubbed it on that video clip just for visual effects as I have done on many of video clips Thanks for your astute observation.
