Another clip from Nat's tv show. Glad to see he never lost his love for playing.

  • Nat wasn't just "good on the piano in spite of being a famous singer" - he kicked major league ass on the piano.

  • Holy cow, that is one all-star band playing with Nat! Roy Eldridge on tpt, Stan Getz on tenor, Herb Ellis on guitar and Ray Brown on bass...about a zillion dollars worth of talent!!

you're welcome to watch it in my channel!

  • The great times. This video is quite rare, though. Enjoyed it greatly, many thanks for uploading this jewel.

  • Nat is a beast...

  • nat is so great i get sick watching him on piano, i play but couldn't imagine playing like him.

  • The problem was simple. Nat was an awesome pianist that could sing. But, he sang very well and that was what the record buying public wanted. So, after 1951, the King Cole Trio jazz pianist era was really over and Nat "King" Cole singer era was fully born. Capitol never recorded Nat on piano after 1956. So, these live shots are the only way we get to hear how he progressed on the instrument through the 1950's and 60's. Such a shame.
