im confused...whats the difference between melodic and harmonic minor??

@andrew19vato Harmonic Minor is 1-2-b3-4-5-b6-7 (or A-B-C-D-E-F-G#). Melodic Minor is 1-2-b3-4-5-6-7 (or A-B-C-D-E-F#-G#). Melodic Minor is like a natural minor scale with a raised 6th and 7th, Harmonic Minor is like a natural minor scale with a raised 7th only.

@chrisj64 thanks! just started playing it, its a nice mode...abit confused though still cause i always thought lydian was a major mode, bet then i guess dominant is neither major nor minor, or maybe uim wrong. i dont know, i haven't studied much music theory

@andrew19vato Lydian = #4 and dominant = b7, so a lydian dominant scale is a lydian scale with a b7. C Lydian would work for a Cmaj7, C lydian dominant would work on a C7.

That's right, Lydian Dominant is the same scale as Melodic Minor. Actually, one of its modes. C lydian dominant = G MM.
