You are a talented drummer, It's funny cause I'm sort of doing the same thing right now.
I can't find a place to play drums and I can't play at home because my parents would never let me, so I just practice on cushions like you hahah.

hey phil would you know if pearl is a good brand of drum set for this kind of music? like smashing pumpkinsy grunge rock? are there any cheap pearl brands?

I don't know too much about pearl to be honest. Any brand can be good. Don't listen to the manufacturers. Some of the best kits I've ever been on were really cheap ones. All depends on the sound you're looking for.
