I used to think the orange thing was the exit when I first almost beat this level like 7 years ago, and if you fly in there you just explode... :|

Years ago, on my first PS2, this level had me permanently stumped on where you were supposed to go and when. When what's-his-face arrived, he was invincible, so was I supposed to follow him through the hanger ducts or kill something else in the hanger?

I guess I shall find out now, some 8-10 years later...

...that was arbitrary! How the hell are you supposed to know when he's not invincible anymore?!
